Student accommodation planned locations in the UK

Arthur takes a look at a few planned student accommodation developments that have recently been announced!

Birmingham

A brand new 1,000 bed development is scheduled to be built in Birmingham’s Gun Quarter.  Three student accommodation blocks will consist of 103 studios and 158 shared flats as well as holding offices and a landscaped courtyard.  It comes with space for 256 bikes and doesn’t provide car parking making it more environmentally friendly.  Additionally, a new 586 bed development is due to be built next summer by Unite.

 

Portsmouth

A new 256- bed development in Portsmouth is under construction by Crosslane Student Developments, which is 19 storeys high.  This is a £30m build and will consist of 118 ensuite cluster flats ready for student tenants in August 2019.

 

Cardiff

A £40m development between ISG and Fusion is in construction and will be located in central Cardiff.  This has been designed by Corstorphine & Wright Architects and will be a luxury option for students with the added facilities of a cinema, gym and sky bar!  Scheduled to open summer 2019.

 

Lincoln

The Parklane group has announced its plans of a new £20m development in Lincoln, with the expansion of their brand ‘Iconinc’.  This is a luxury student accommodation with facilities including 24-hour concierge, sauna/steam rooms, gym and cinema.  Managing director of Parklane Group, Naveen Ahmed, said :” We are pleased to be bringing the Iconinc brand to Lincoln, building on the success of our existing developments in Liverpool and Leeds and setting a new standard in luxury student living in Lincolnshire.” Due to open in 2019.

 

Lancaster

A deal worth £14.3m has been agreed redeveloping a grade 2 listed building into student accommodation.  The scheme will provide 179 beds consisting of studios and en-suite cluster accommodation.  John Styles of KFIM added ”We are pleased to have the opportunity to regenerate an historic building and provide an important piece of property infrastructure, which will further strengthen Lancaster’s status as a top UK university town.”
